Robert “Bob” Lee Ainsworth, age 90, died May 25, 2012 at his home in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Bob was born February 12, 1922 in Lexington, Missouri to Harry and Edna (Starkebaum) Ainsworth.  Bob was raised and confirmed in the Salem United Church of Christ in Higginsville, Missouri.  He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Bob retired as a truck driver from Wilson Foods, Inc. in Oklahoma City July 1986.  He was a pilot, sky diver and enjoyed fishing.  His greatest joy was all of his girls and son-in-law.

Bob’s family was most important to him.  He enjoyed taking his girls on the truck with him, going down in mines rock hunting, gathering mistletoe, fishing or just out together.  He especially enjoyed his time with his granddaughters.  His latest joy was his great granddaughter and her entertaining him.

He enjoyed life to the fullest.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Lois; two daughters, Ritha and her husband Wayne Tubbs of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and LN1 (Ret) Lori Long of Midwest City, Oklahoma; two granddaughters, Pfc Karlyn Bishop of Ft. Riley, Kansas and Annastassia Long of Midwest City, Oklahoma; a great-granddaughter, Kamrie Leanne Bishop of Fort Riley, Kansas;  one sister Louise Salyer; and one brother Tom Ainsworth; and one brother-in-law Harold Salyer, all of Higginsville, Missouri; and one sister-in-law Marilyn Ainsworth of Carthage, Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John and Jim Ainsworth and two sisters, Elizabeth Ann Ainsworth and Dorothy Salyer.

He will be greatly missed by family and all who knew him.

A memorial service will be 1:00 pm Saturday June 23, 2012 at Daniel Funeral Home with Military Honors conducted on the front lawn following the service.

Contributions are suggested to Liberal Museum Inc. in care of Daniel Funeral Home.

Lois,
So sorry for your loss! Bob was a great guy. I always loved our morning
conversations at the restaurant over biscuits & gravy or a pancake. I will
never forget making him gravy (it was my first time making gravy). It was
awful. Bob was very nice about it. He was very sure we shouldn't serve it! I
know he will be missed. Prayers for you and your family.
