True Jarrett Medlin age 80, of rural Lamar,  passed away Thursday evening, January 7, 2010 at his home.

True was born April 23, 1929 north of Milford, Missouri, to True L. and Okla (Smith) Medlin.  After graduating from Lamar High School, True married Nadine Mae Morey and together they farmed and raised their family of five sons, Gary, Roy, Larry, Donald, and Jesse.

A farmer and rancher most of his life, True loved to check the cows on his 4-wheeler, especially if one of the grandkids was with him.  He was a great Christian man and touched many lives through his Gideon Jail Ministry and simply showing them he cared, showing them the Love of Jesus Christ.  He loved his family and was in full glory when all 59 of his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren were gathered around him.  He was an active and faithful member of Liberty Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Nadine, of the home; four sons and their wives,  Roy & Sharon Medlin, Larry & Lori Medlin, Donald & Susan Medlin, Jesse & Pam Medlin, all of Lamar; eight grandsons and their wives, Kevin & April Medlin, Frontenac, Kansas, Roy Medlin, Jr., Lamar, Jeremy & Melissa Medlin, Raymore,  Shane & Lori Medlin, Springfield,  Shawn & Julie Medlin, St. Peters,  Jarrett Medlin, St. Louis, Bradly Keithly, Lamar and Braydon Medlin, Columbia; six granddaughters and their husbands, Brenda & Rick Sewell, Golden City, Jackie & Stan Harris, Lamar, Chasity & Mike Sewell, Whiteman Air Force Base, Lori & Andy Roskamp, Lamar, Brooka Medlin & Kaylee Medlin, both of Lamar; 28 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Myrna & husband Ron Fite, Traverse City, Michigan; two brothers-in-law, Don Johnston, Lamar, and Vanoy Anderegg, Springfield, Missouri; and a large extended family.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Gary; and three sisters, Betty Jean Medlin, Alberta Johnston, and Rosetta Anderegg.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 11th at Daniel Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. Sunday.  Burial will be in Moorehead Cemetery.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Gideons International or American Cancer Society in care of Daniel Funeral Home

Jesse and family,

I'm so sorry for your loss. If it's true that children
are a reflection of their father, then your father must have been a wonderful
man. (I'm remembering when Tai didn't know who you were but commented on how
nice you were as a ref at Upward - it didn't surprise me at all.) May you be
blessed with comfort and peace from the only One who can truly give it.
Thinking of you and your family at this time.

So sorry to hear of your loss. Even when we know our loved ones are much better
off than suffering here, we still miss them. May God give you peace and strength
to get through the coming days. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your
family.

True was really one of the nicest men I ever knew, and no doubt has passed much
of who he was to his children, there can be no greater legacy for a father. We
will all miss this Godly man.

I am a dispatcher at the Barton County Sheriff's Dept. and I met True at the
jail when he would come on Thursday evenings to visit with the inmates. He was
always so happy and always had a smile on his face. The inmates throughly loved
having him come spend time with them and I too looked forward to Thursday's when
he would come. He had a way of making me smile if I was having a bad moment and
he so loved sharing God's word with everyone. He will be so missed. God Bless
his family.

Nadine, Roy, Larry, Donald and Jesse,

I am so sorry to hear of True's
passing. His death will not only be your loss but a loss for the entire
community.

He came to Mom's sale and because of the mess that day (4 inches
of rain)I didn't get much time to visit with him.
I have regretted that ever
since.

Having known your family since the sixth grade I want you to know that
you, Nadine, and True made a difference in my life as well as many others, I am
sure. I have nothing but the upmost respect for the way you raised your family
and the way you treated those around you, even if they were a skinny, freckled
faced, little red headed girl.

I know you will miss True immensely. He was a
fine Christian man who loved his family. The world would be a much better place
if there were more people like True and Nadine Medlin.

My deepest
sympathy.
