Charles DeWayne Waring, age 59, of Oswego, Kansas, passed away Friday morning, October 21, 2016, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.

Charlie was born January 13, 1957, in Lamar, Missouri to Harley and Rosalie (Swift) Waring.  He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Sonny Baston; and a step-daughter, Misty Johns.

Returning home after serving in the U.S. Army, Charlie followed his life-long interest and knowledge of cars and motorcycles to operate Charlie’s Salvage Yard in Mindenmines, Missouri.  Charlie’s willingness to share his automotive skills and problem-solving abilities quickly turned customers into friends. He truly enjoyed their friendship and appreciated their fellowship after declining health forced him to retire. He never lost interest in Harley bikes or stock car races, and always looked forward to any time spent with family, especially if it included the kids.  Charlie was a member of Believers Bible Church in Pittsburg, Kansas.

Survivors include a son, Jimmy Waring, Frontenac, Kansas; two brothers, Billy (Lawana) Waring, Mulberry, Kansas and John Waring, Frontenac; three sisters, Rose Marie (Gary) Miley, Racine, Missouri, Rosetta Pulley, Topeka, Kansas, and Sue Waring, Frontenac; a step-daughter, Brandi Johns, Mindenmines; several grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Tom (Sue) Goodwin, Pineville, Missouri.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 27th at Daniel Funeral Home in Lamar.  Burial will be in Iantha Cemetery.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Heart Association or American Stroke Association, in care of the funeral home.
