Heather Joleen Dunagan, age 39, of Lamar, passed away Saturday morning, April 16, 2016 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin.

Heather was born September 3, 1976 at Humansville, Missouri to Doyle and Suzi (Strong) Dunagan.  She graduated from Lamar High School in 1994 and went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Missouri Southern in 2012.  Heather had worked for Watco in Pittsburg, Kansas and Tamko in Lamar.  Most recently, she was a Mental Health Specialist at Pathways in Nevada, Missouri. Heather was an animal-lover who pampered her dogs and cats.  She enjoyed travelling and well-planned cruises topped her list of favorite vacations.  Naturally compassionate and generous with her time, Heather’s most gratifying roles were those of caregiver for her mom, enthusiastic farmhand for her dad, and best friend to her fiancée, Mike Trost.

Preceding Heather in death were her grandparents, Dean & Mary Strong and Joyce Dunagan McEldowney; four uncles, Larry Strong, Vaughn, Lee, and Robert Dunagan; and several cousins.

Survivors include parents, Doyle and Suzi Dunagan, fiancée Mike Trost, all of Lamar; her brother, Doyle Dunagan, Jr. and wife, Jennie of Stockton, Missouri; nephews, Ryder & Trace Dunagan; her step-grandmother, Mary Strong, Lamar; many cousins and a large extended family.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. Monday, April 18th at Daniel Funeral Home.  Private burial will be at a later date.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Dunagan family in care of Doyle Dunagan or the funeral home.

There are countless words to describe Heather. Loyal, caring, compassionate, dedicated, and understanding just to name a few. She touched so many lives including mine. She filled my life with fun and joy. There was never a dull moment! She was always there for me when I needed her. She was there when my 2nd child was born and was the first to hold him. I will never forget her, she will always live in my heart. To the entire Dunagan family, I am so sorry for your loss. She is and always will be loved and missed.

What an amazing person this world will miss! Heather was a good and generous person who blessed so many with her kindness. I have memories of her growing up and also as an adult when occasionally I would visit with her when we would both be getting our morning coffee at Eastside. She always had a smile and was so friendly. I will truly miss this fine lady! With prayers and sympathy, Jackie Speights
