Hi, Pam and Norman.

I am sorry I wasn't able to make it to the funeral or give you my condolences at the hospital. I enjoyed being able to hopefully give Ethan and both of you comfort while Ethan was in the hospital. You are such wonderful parents and I can not imagine what it must feel like to lose such a sweet boy. I wish I could have known Ethan before he was ill.

You are in my thoughts and prayers.

There are no words to say that will ease the pain you feel from the loss of Ethan. We lost our daughter Rachel, 4 yrs ago and still grieve for her daily. I understand that Norman is taking the loss of Ethan exceptionally hard. Roger and I are still learning to deal with our loss and Roger said if Norman would like to talk he would be there for him. I, on the other hand do better by e-mail. We have a nursing scholarship that we personally give every year for someone in this area in memory of Rachel. It is very important to not shut out your friends and family because they are the ones that will help you cope with this tragedy on a daily basis. Please let us know if there is anything we can do. Here is a poem that was given to us and pretty much says it all:
We thought of you
With love today,
But that is nothing new.
We thought about you yesterday,
And the days before that, too.
We think of you in silence,
We often speak your name.
Now all we have is memories,
And your picture in a frame.
Your memory is our keepsake,
With which we'll never part,
God has you in his keeping,
We have you in our heart.

Our hearts and prayers are with you and your family. I can hardly imagine how painful this is for you.
May his family remember the good times.

I didn't know Ethan, but I know from his grandmother Jane what a great boy he was. I wish I could have known him. My heartfelt prayers are with and for his family, and you're in my thoughts daily, more likely hourly.
