Clifford R. Sweeney

 

     Clifford Robert Sweeney, age 85, of rural Lamar, passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2008, at Barton County Memorial Hospital.

 

     Clifford was born May 18, 1923, in Chase County, Nebraska, one of the ten children of Hiram and Rosa (Daschofsky) Sweeney.  He had lived in Eads, Colorado before moving to Barton County in 1947.  Clifford was a long-time farmer and rancher.  He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan and enjoyed any activity that could be shared with his family, especially his great-nephews and great-nieces.

 

     Survivors include two brothers and their wives, Bruce & Mary Sweeney, Lamar, and Clarence & Barbara Sweeney, Jasper; three sisters, Dorothy Miles, Gillette, Wyoming, Faye Ransom, Canyon City, Colorado, and Lena Whaley, Eads, Colorado; many nephews and nieces and a large extended family.  He was preceded in death by three brothers, Lee, Ray and Loren Sweeney; and a sister, Grace Branstine.

 

     A graveside funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 11th at Dudenville Cemetery south of Golden City with Mike Gage officiating.

Uncle Clifford was an excellent man to be around. He loved all us nephews and neices as if we was his own kids. I will greatly miss him and loved him more than words can say.
