     Donald George Bays, age 69, formerly of Kimberling City, Missouri, passed away Friday, October 29, 2010 at Missouri Veterans Home in Mt. Vernon.

 

     Don was born July 31, 1941, at Lamar, to George and Lela (Wright) Bays.  He graduated from Lamar High School in 1959 and attended SMS in Springfield.  Don served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of Kimberling City V.F.W.  Before a brain aneurysm left him disabled in 1991, Don had managed the shoe department at Dillards in Springfield for many years.

 

     Survivors include his brother and sister-in-law, Bob & Ann Bays of Jasper, Missouri; two sisters, Linda Bays of Mt. Vernon and Donna Joan & husband Rex McMillan of Carthage, Missouri; two nephews, Dale and Dan Bays; a niece, Sharon Elliott; and several great-nephews and great-nieces.

 

     Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 2nd at Daniel Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from noon until 1:00 p.m. Tuesday.  Burial with military honors will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Lamar.

 

     Memorial contributions are suggested to the Missouri Veterans Home in Mt. Vernon.

So sorry to hear about this loss. I know how loved Don was. Lela talked about him often. May God carry you through your grief and bring you the peace that only He can provide.
