William Harrison “Bill” O’Banion, age 75, of Lamar, MO died Monday, December 8, 2014 at Freeman Hospital West, Joplin, MO after a short illness.

Bill was born April 21, 1939 in St. Clair County, MO to Jake F. O’Banion and Oletha (Stephens) O’Banion. He had two brothers, Donald O’Banion and Robert O’Banion; two sisters, Mary O’Banion and Elain O’Banion; and a half-sister Evelyn June Crown-Snyder.  He has lived in Lamar since 1981 and worked at Lamar Enterprises.  He was a member of Lamar First Christian Church and was very faithful to attend. Bill independently made his way around town, walking everywhere and taking good care of his cat “Snowball”.

Funeral service will be 3:00 pm Thursday, December 11, 2014 at Daniel Funeral Home with Rob Wilson officiating.  Bill will be laid to rest near his mother on Friday at Englewood Cemetery, Clinton, MO.

Bill was a special person in my life for over 30 years. He will be missed.

I met Bill while driving the T.A.T.S. (taxi). I would see him walking everywhere in Lamar. I will miss seeing him and I am sure others will also.
