Richardson, Marian Marie (Helms) (Thorburn), 81, went to join her Lord and loved ones on Monday, December 23, 2013 after battling cancer for several years. The last years she stayed with her son Gene and his wife Jody. In her declining years, she was provided excellent care by loving and caring Hospice nurses and aides. She is the next to youngest of 9 siblings who have all preceded her in joining their Lord. She was the mother of six children. Marian and her twin sister were born January 22, 1932 to Pearl Lee and Margaret (Dixon) Helms in Lamar, Missouri. In 1950 she married Winfred Elmer Thorburn and they moved to Wichita in 1954.  Later in life she married William Richardson.

Marian was preceded in death by her parents, Pearl and Margaret (Dixon) Helms; brothers, Carl, twins Floyd and Lloyd Helms; sisters, Orpha Jungman, Letha Lorene Doyle, Margie Slinker, Helen Taylor, and Marian Marie's twin, Marian Louise; and her son, James Thorburn.

Mrs. Richardson is survived by two sons, Winfred "Gene" and Jody Thorburn of Wichita and Robert Thorburn of Augusta; three daughters, Ruth and Herb Ellis of Sanger, Texas, Lois and Mike Goodwin of Holton, Kansas, and Janet Fortier of Wichita. She was loved by and loving of 23 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm. Friday at Broadway Mortuary in Wichita.  Funeral services in Lamar will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 28th at Daniel Funeral Home.  Marian Marie will join her parents and siblings for burial in Killey Cemetery.

To all my cousins, I have many great memories of Aunt Marie and times spent with you all in Wichita or at Grandma's house in Lamar, even though Lois, Jimmy and I usually got in trouble. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
