     Edith Mae Young Divine passed away May 27, 2013 after a short illness.  Edith was born September 4, 1919 in Henning, Minnesota, the youngest daughter of Gideon Isaac and Edith Jane (Stevens) Young.  She attended Prairie View rural school in Barton County and Sheldon High School her Freshman and Sophomore years before moving to Lamar, Missouri where she graduated in 1936.  Edith attended the United Methodist Church.  She worked for Rogers Flies and Lures of Lamar for many years.  Later she became the Director of Lamar Family Day Care at the Lamar Methodist Church for 25 years.  She was awarded the first Beta Sigma Phi Woman of the Year, and Lamar Chamber Mother of the Year.  After retirement she stayed active with her Sew and Sew Club, Eastern Star for over 50 years, enjoying her family and attending all their family and school events.  Her hobbies included cooking, reading, planting flowers, watching birds, and traveling.

     Edith married Buel Albert Divine October 20, 1938 in Lamar, Missouri.  To this marriage were born five children:  two sons, Keith Divine and wife, Lynn of Lamar; John Divine and wife, Kerry of Joplin, Missouri; three daughters, Luanna Olson and Jim (deceased) Champaign, Illinois; Bonda Rawlings and husband, Bill, Lamar; Jo Faubion and husband, Doug, Forsyth, Missouri.

     She is survived by one brother, John Young, Lamar, 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Buel (Nub) September 20, 1955; her parents; three brothers, Ted Young, Edwin Young, and Hawley Young; and two sisters, Elsie Oldham and Ruth Divine.

     Visitation will be Saturday, June 1st from 9:30 until 11:00 a.m. at Daniel Funeral Home in Lamar.  Services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with burial in Lake Cemetery, Lamar.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Lamar United Methodist Church, or charity of personal preference.

To Edith's Family,
I was so deeply saddened to hear of Edith's passing while we were on vacation. I am sorry that I could not attend her services. She was a very special lady and neighbor to me and always held a special place in my heart. My deepest sympathy at your loss.
