Ruby Mae "Pug" Thieman, age 84, of Lamar, passed away Monday, April 8, 2013 at Good Shepherd Nursing Home where she had been a resident for the past year.

Ruby was born April 19, 1928 in Springfield, Missouri, one of the three daughters of Herman and Ethel (Manis) King.  She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Wanda Devine; a great-grandson, Ethan Kelly Hull; and a niece, Pam Throckmorton.

After graduating from Greenfield High School, Pug worked as a waitress for the Lockwood restaurant for a short time.  On November 25, 1946, at Columbus, Kansas, she married Ernest A. Thieman and, after Ernie returned from World War II, they lived in Lockwood before moving to Barton County.  In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, Pug cared for children in her home while her four sons were small. She had worked for Big Smith in Lamar and managed the Lamar Dairy Queen for several years before beginning a long career as an office nurse for the Lamar Clinic.  Always active in school and community activities, Pug had served as P.T.A. president, cub scout den mother, and Lamar United Methodist Church Sunday school teacher.  She enjoyed the fellowship of a reading club and close friendships made through a pinochle card club.

Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Ernie, of the home; four sons and their wives, Jerry & Jeannie Thieman, Tommy & Betty Thieman and Terry & Cindy Thieman, all of Lamar, and Joe & Sally Thieman of Lee's Summit, Missouri; a sister, Jean E. Jones, Greenfield; 11 grandchildren, Kelly (Mike) Hull, Jeff (Carrie) Thieman, Brent (Megan) Thieman, Ellen (Nate) Eddie, Jessica Thieman, Jeremiah Thieman, Matt (Ashley) Thieman, Micah (Megan) Thieman, Megan Thieman, Allen Thieman, and Anna (Tyler) Welty; and 12 great-grandchildren, Zane, Trenton, Lainey, Wyatt, Lilly, Eli, Lydia, Peyton, Henry, Alexandria, Avery, and Lilah.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 11th at Daniel Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday.  Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Lamar United Methodist Church or L.I.F.E. Foundation in care of the funeral home.

Dearest Ernie Thieman Family...

Our prayers are for those left behind, that have to cope with the void left by loosing your loved one, whether it be wife, mom, grandma, great grandma, sister, aunt, cousin or just a great friend. Life seems to go on. The memories that Pug created here on Earth will remain intact until we meet again.

This event really should be a joyous one, as "Pug" is with her loved ones that have shown her the way to heaven who were waiting at the gates, with arms opened to welcome her home.
