Mary Lou Poindexter, age 87, of Lamar, died Thursday, April 4, 2013. 

Mary Lou was born April 25, 1925 at Carrollton, MO to Luther and Nancy Mae (Bowles) Carter.  She graduated Bogard High School in 1943. On June 22, 1947 she married George William “Bill” Poindexter at Bogard, MO and he preceded her in death November 21, 1994.

Mary Lou was a member of First Baptist Church of Lamar, a member of the church choir, volunteered for Meals on Wheels, and was a member of the Surviving Spouses, however, family always came first.

Survivors include one son, George and Shirley Poindexter of Boise, ID; one daughter, Patty and Ben Lamb, of Lamar, MO; one brother, Edgar Ray and Glenda Carter, of Sun City, AZ; one sister Margaret and Robert Earl Gentry of Carrollton, MO; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, LeRoy Carter and Harold “Pat” Carter; one sister, Inez Emerson; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Funeral Service will be 10:00 am Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at Daniel Funeral home with Rev. Robb Hodson officiating. 

Burial will be 3:00 pm Tuesday at Ebenezer Cemetery in Bogard, MO.

Family will receive friends 6:00 to 7:00 pm Monday, April 8, 2013 at Daniel Funeral Home.

Contributions are suggested to First Baptist Church in care of Daniel Funeral Home.

Mary Lou was just one of the sweetest people I've ever known. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed. Until we meet again, dear lady.
