Wanda M. Nelson, age 91, of Lamar died at her home Tuesday December 18, 2012 after a long illness.

Mrs. Nelson was born July 7, 1921 in Allen County, KS to George Washington and Artie Jean (Tinsley) Alumbaugh.  She was retired from working with her husband and sons as office manager in the family owned Nelson Brothers Quarry, located east of Jasper, MO.  On February 25, 1939 she married Carl Andrew Nelson at Iola, KS. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Jasper, MO.

Wanda leaves behind five sons, Jerry R. Nelson, Lamar, MO, Robert W. Nelson, Joplin, MO, John B. Nelson, Quapaw, OK, Paul M. Nelson, Jasper, MO and James L. Nelson, Baxter Springs, KS; two daughters, Carol A. Harman, Ocola, FL and Mary Nelson Cook, Lamar, MO; daughter-in-law Virginia Nelson, Richmond, KS; a sister Opal Doubleday, Taos, NM; 22 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren.

Wanda was preceded in death by her husband Carl A. Nelson and one son, Randy K. Nelson.

Service will be 2:00 pm Friday December 21, 2012 at Daniel Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Lake Cemetery.  Grandsons and Great Grandsons will be pallbearers.

Visitation will be 6 to 7 pm Thursday December 20, 2012 at Daniel Funeral Home.

Contributions are suggested to First Baptist Church of Jasper, MO in care of the funeral home.

Your Mother was a very nice person . An it was a joy knowing her . I'm sorry to hear about her passing . But know she's in a better place . Where she will feel no more pain and she will be reunited with her husband.
