Charles P. Boman, age 103, of Lamar, died Thursday September 15, 2011 at his home.

Charles was born April 2, 1908, near Maxville, Kansas, the second of the four sons of Shelva and Alta (Wheatley) Boman.  He grew up with a great curiosity about how things worked and was gifted with a natural ability to fix almost anything.  He used this talent throughout his life, working as a mechanic, in his own shop as well as working many years for Medlin Ford in Lamar.  He enjoyed working on farm equipment, especially tractors.

On November 8, 1939, at Carthage, Missouri, Charles married Lula Mae Triebel and they celebrated 56 years together before she preceded him in death May 23, 1996.  He was also preceded in death by his three brothers, Cecil, Chester, and Clifford Boman, and an infant granddaughter, Chemaly Jo.

Survivors include two sons, Charles Warren Boman, and Michael and his wife, Nancy Boman, all of Lamar; four grandchildren, Kevin & Crystal Boman, Belton, MO, Kyle & Lonni Jo Boman, Jasper, Katie & Brian Lemmons, Lamar, and Jimmy Hooper, Carthage; four great-grandchildren, Heston Boman, Evelynn & Kadin Lemmons, and Julia Boman.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Daniel Funeral Home followed by a graveside funeral service at 2:30 p.m. at Howell Cemetery south of Milford.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice Compassus or Barton County Memorial Hospital.
